Step 1
Approach the jump with moderate speed. Aim your board to the left of the jump to give you room to turn as you enter the takeoff area.
Carve up the jump on your toe edge, so that you are running slightly across the jump rather than straight forward.
As you enter the jump, turn your shoulder and your core just slightly to your right and bend your knees. This is the same as the 180 pre-wind and creates a spring ready to be released.
Step 2
As you take off, rotate your shoulders, core and legs just past 180 degrees. If you turn your body and crucially your head, the rest will follow.
Step 3
Keep your body weight central over the board and bring your knees up to your body.
Step 4
Crucially, your shoulders and head actually stay facing a 180 direction for the first part of the jump. On larger jumps, most snowboarders look back quickly to spot their landing.
Allow your legs to continue turning FIRST whilst your head and shoulders remain just past the 180 point.
Step 5
As you land rotate your shoulders and face to point in the direction you are going.
To stop over rotation as you land, you actually want to be slightly on your toe edge.
