Step 1
Approach the boxrail at a moderate speed. Keep the board flat with no edge. You should be facing head on towards the boxrail.
Ride up and onto the boxrail keeping your weight over the centre of the board. You may feel the natural instinct to lean back, so try to visualise the movement expecting the board to slide and go with it. Do not look at your feet, instead focus on the end of the boxrail. Hold your sideways body position for the initial stage.
Step 2
Turn your shoulders 90 degrees toward your front foot and shift the board using you your core muscles and your back foot. Do not bend at the waist.
As your turn keep focusing on the end of the rail. Your shoulders should point directly down the box rail.
Step 3
Sink down into your boots and keep your weight over the centre of your board. Keep the top half of your body upright so as not to bend forward or backwards and loose control.
Step 4
By bending your knees you will stay balanced and in control of the snowboard throughout the slide.
Try to maintain an equal balance in both legs.
Step 5
Your exit should be one smooth and continues move.
To exit the slide, turn your shoulders 90 degrees away from the line of the rail so that you face forward once again. Remember not to use any edges so that your board is always flat on the box rail.
Extend your already bent knees to produce a small forward facing hop and land flat. Bend your knees to absorb the impact before returning to either edge. On some box rails you can just ride off.
