Step 1
Snowboard in a straight line down the slope. Pick a relatively shallow incline at first i.e. a green or blue run. Once you are ready to ollie, head directly down the slope with the board flat. Keep your eyes facing forward and not at the floor when completing this trick.
Crouch down over your board so that your knees are bent. You will be using the spring in your legs to start the trick. Stay relaxed and keep your actions as smooth as possible.
Step 2
Pull your front foot up hard to get the front of the board off the ground. This will move your weight and the energy created to the tail of your snowboard. Think of it like a scooping action.
Step 3
Quickly bring your back foot up and then lean forward so that your weight shifts to the front of the board. The energy created in the previous step will allow the tail of the board to act as a spring.
By increasing the force in which you lift your leg, combined with your ability to use that energy in the spring of the tail will increase the height of your Ollie.
Step 4
Draw both of your knees up to your chest as high as possible. Remember; do not look at your feet as this will cause the board to move from a flat position making it difficult to land. By bring both legs up to your chest in an equal way the board will level out in the air.
Step 5
To land, lower your legs making sure that you keep them slightly bent in order to absorb the impact.
